Cascading Blessings

As I approach my 53rd year of living (this week), or, as my invaluable friend and mentor, United States Army retired Command Sergeant Major James D. Pendry would say – the 34th anniversary of my 19th birthday, and my 17th marriage anniversary (also this week); I reflect on the many, many blessings “I’m aware of” that God has graciously granted to me.

I specify “I’m aware of” because the Bible states that God daily loads us (mankind) with benefits (Psalm 68:19 – KJV) and those benefits are blessings. Therefore, since He “loads” them upon us daily (each and every day), we will only be aware of some of the blessings He gives us and be unaware of a good majority of them.

Think about that…

Recently at the end of a day, I recounted a cornucopia of blessings God had given me and allowed me to be a part of. As I thought upon them, the image of a waterfall came up on my mind’s big screen “T.V.” (Thought-a-Vision)

I began to see the blessings God provided me for that particular day as a series of processes, progressions and units that flowed in, through and out of my life, which then continued to flow in, through and out of the lives of others in a continuous succession wonderfully reminiscent of a cascading waterfall.

The effects I observed as blessings came to me in the form of answered prayer, assistance/help and spoken words (of appreciation, encouragement and kindness) flowed into me then out of me to others I met that day just as a waterfall flows as a continuing series over steeps rocks and down mountainsides and on into the lakes, streams and tributaries that receive its perpetual provision.

I hope this submission will inspire you to seek to identify and concentrate on the flow of blessings God gives to you each day. And I also hope in doing so, you’ll have a similar or even more colorful observation of the cascading effects that emanate from, through and within the immeasurable blessings of God.

Oh yeah…I want to say “Happy Birthday” to my much appreciated friend mentioned at the beginning of this submission. He also celebrates a birthday this week – his is the 37th anniversary of his 19th birthday…God bless you greatly, my friend.
